NEWS FLASH: Java for FRC Early Access - 12.3.2009

You can get the Early Access release of Java for FRC, see the FIRST Robotics Resource Center for Java for more information.

Would you like to program your FRC robot using Java?  Do you know what Java is?  Would you like to program your FRC robot from the platform of your choice?  This site has been setup to help you answer these questions and more.

FIRST has announced that Java Technology will be available to team members competing in the 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).  WPI, using their WPILib library, and Sun Microsystems, with its Sun SPOT embedded Java platform, have partnered to provide Java and WPILibJ on NI's CompactRIO platform.

As we get ready to distribute the official release of Java Technology we thought you might like to get a taste of Java now!  WPILib support is not ready for general release yet.  However we have an emulator that will let you you experiment with the same Java and developer tools that you will be using when you start programming the CompactRIO with Java. So even if you don’t have NI’s CompactRIO from this year’s competition, you can still go ahead and start learning about it now.

Get the emulator NOW with Tutorial.
